As more and more children are fascinated with pirates, finding buried treasure can lead to some creative ideas for hosting an interactive celebration and using kid gift baskets as a reward.
Before arranging the scavenger hunt, decide what type of map system to offer. Would you like children to have a treasure map or word-based clue map? If participating with children who can not read, you can place stakes in the ground and run colored streamers along the stakes; leading to each child’s gift basket.
Regardless of the child’s age, write the child’s name on their gift basket and their treasure map. In order to tell each child’s map and basket apart, you may wish to use a color-coded system, reminding children of their assigned color. Place the kid gift baskets in separate locations; far away from each other. This will eliminate the chance of another child finding a gift basket that belongs to someone else. Pass out individual maps and have their children fond their own color-coded basket.
Gift basket scavenger hunts can be a fun learning experience for school-aged children. Place numbered stakes in the ground and separate them. This can be as simple as hammering a cardboard number to a tomato stake. Write clues for finding the kid gift baskets on the back of the numbers with some clues being true and some false, based on the problem’s answer. On each child’s treasure map, create an age-appropriate math problem. Children will have to solve the problems correctly in order to advance. The location of the gift basket will be revealed after solving the final problem. This method works great for parents and teachers who are looking for an activity that takes some time and is not rushed.
